CATCH-A-FIRE
As we move into the month in which Bob Marley would have celebrated his 67th birthday I have decided to post this excellent documentary about the making of his first album with an international music label. Catch A Fire, as this documentary shows, broke more than a little ground in musical terms. As well as propelling Marley on the path to becoming the first international superstar from the third world, it brought reggae to a mainstream audience, and moved it away from the common perception of it as novelty music. Marley showed the world that the roots of the music lay in rebellion and the search for truth, justice and basic human rights. Looking back on all Marley achieved from the launch of this album it is hard to believe that within ten years of its release he would be dead. THE MUSIC AND THE MESSAGE REMAIN. BOB MARLEY 1945-1981
